Curtin achieves five-star ratings in 2019 Good Universities Guide

The latest edition of the Good Universities Guide shows the Curtin University has received several five-star ratings, meaning the Curtin was rated in the top 20 per cent of all universities in Australia, for student satisfaction with skills development, learner engagement, teaching quality and overall experience.

Curtin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry welcomed the latest results.

Professor Terry said “Five stars are awarded to universities that rank in the top 20 per cent nationally and I am delighted that Curtin University has achieved this result across four key categories. Curtin is committed to offering students a quality education with real-world experience in order to prepare them for their future careers, so I welcome the positive ratings students have provided the University. As Western Australia’s largest university and with a growing international footprint across Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai and Mauritius, Curtin aims to ensure students enjoy positive experiences during their time studying at the University.”

Skills development measures the proportion of students who rated the quality of skills development at their university positively, learner engagement shows the proportion of students who felt positively engaged with learning at their university, and teaching quality indicates the proportion of students who were satisfied with the quality of the teaching at their university.

Professor Terry was also very pleased to note that the Guide’s new measure also shows that 25 per cent of Curtin domestic students commencing a bachelor degree are the first in their family to attend university.

“This outcome reflects the very important role that Curtin plays in providing opportunities for students to transform their lives through education,” Professor Terry said.
