Associate Professor Pon Selvan, Head of School for Science and Engineering, facilitated quite a few industry visits for the Curtin Dubai’s Engineering School. The students had the opportunity to visit leading companies like Beacon Energy Solutions; Naresco Contracting; Unique Group – Sharjah; and Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP)
Beacon Energy Solutions is an end to end holistic energy management and solar solutions company where students attended a workshop on Solar Lamp Assembly conducted by Sandhya Prakash, Founder and CEO of Beacon Energy Solutions.
The students also visited Naresco Contracting, a leading contracting company in the UAE, where they were briefed on the various stages of the contracting industry.
The students also visited Unique Group- Sharjah, which specializes in engineering and the latest technology for the marine, diving, pipeline and subsea market sectors.
During their visit to the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP), which was established in 2016 by H.H. Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, the students learnt in detail about how SRTIP developed and managed an innovation ecosystem that promotes Research and Development.
Overall, the industry visits planned by Associate Professor Pon Selvan ensured that students of Curtin Dubai’s Engineering school received a great learning experience and also contributed to the 480 hours of practical experience that is part of the Engineering course framework.
