Curtin Dubai’s partnership with ASHRAE

Engineering students at Curtin University Dubai have recently launched a new engineering student society in association with the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).  ASHRAE, founded in 1894, is a global technical society that provides essential resources for sustainable design, construction and operation of energy efficient buildings and their systems which also includes indoor air quality, and refrigeration.

To celebrate the launch of Curtin Dubai’s ASHRAE Student Society, an inaugural ceremony was hosted at the Curtin University Dubai Engineering Pavilion at Dubai Silicon Oasis. The event took place in the presence of Mr Liju Thomas Eapen, President, ASHRAE Falcon Chapter, and Curtin University Dubai’s Professor John Evans, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Associate Professor Pon Selvan, Head of School of Science and Engineering, and Dr Jillian Pandor, Head, School of Foundation Studies.

Mr Liju Thomas Eapen stressed the importance of the membership as he addressed the students and faculty during the ceremony.

“As graduate students of Curtin Dubai, this is an excellent opportunity for students to grow and familiarise themselves with industry professionals,” Mr Eapen said.

“When students step out into the real world, the connections they make and the interactive knowledge they obtain by getting involved with the student chapter and the ASHARE FALCON Chapter Seminars will prepare them to face real-world challenges; it will also equip them with necessary skills to be successful in life. We wish all the students a successful future ahead,” he said.

As members of ASHRAE, Curtin Dubai’s School of Science and Engineering students will now have complete access to ASHRAE’s wide range of technical resources, industry network and professional development resources.
