Curtin Comes to You: Al Diyafah High School – Career Café

Al Diyafah High School Dubai recently introduced a new approach to career counselling called Career Café that is intended for their middle school students. The Al Diyafah Career Café is a platform that provides students with the opportunity to meet with industry professionals and to learn about their career choices and experiences.

The format was similar to speed networking, allowing every student in groups to engage and learn from the industry professionals from diverse backgrounds covering entrepreneurship, engineering, finance, media, and education. Curtin University Dubai’s Mr Gary Fernandes, Vice-President of Marketing and Student Recruitment was invited to talk about careers in Marketing and his journey.

“The Career Café organised by Al Diyafah High School is a great platform for students to be mentored by industry professionals. Students got to know firsthand about trending careers and careers of the future. There was plenty of learning and engagement; I enjoyed sharing my career story with every student and speaking to them about marketing, but more importantly I enjoyed listening to them about their career aspirations,” Gary Fernandes said.
